Day 01: Arrive at Calicut (new name Kozhikode)

You arrive at the Calicut Airport on the first day of the itinerary of Kerala Heritage and cultural tour. Luxury India Vacations representative meets you at the airport and drives you to the hotel. On arrival at the hotel, the staff welcomes you in traditional Kerala style. Freshen up and take a rest. Go on a tour to explore the heritage sites of Calicut. Calicut (Kozhikode) is a city of historical significance as it witnessed the first European traders’ visit. The Portuguese navigator VasCo Da Gama landed at Calicut in 1498. Once Marco Polo, the Venetian traveler visited this port city and pen downed in his travelogue this area as the Great Province of Malabar. You visit the Thali Temple, Pazhassiraja Museum, Lokanarkavu Temple. After dinner, stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 02: Calicut

After a lazy breakfast, you proceed towards Beypore, Asia’s largest wood market. It is also known for its traditional ship-making industry. Afternoon goes on a beach tour. relax at the Kappad Beach, and Kozhikode Beach. Have fun. After a Kerala dinner stay overnight.

Day 03: Calicut - Mahe (64 kilometers)

After breakfast, our representative drives you to Mahe village located on the west coast in Kerala at a distance of 64 kilometers from Calicut. Mahe is only a geographical part of Kerala and politically it comes under Pondicherry Union Territory. An off-the-beaten Kerala cultural tour includes this little town. On arrival, you halt at a cottage. Spend the night here.

Day 04: Mahe

Mahe, an erstwhile French town is surrounded by the Arabian Sea on the southwest and hills on other sides. River Mahe divides Mahe into two parts. The 9 sq kilometers area of Mahe is inhabited by Malayalam people. Mahe is so spectacular in its geographical location that it thrills you at first sight. Walk past the little town era and explore its church. Visit the Kerala Traditional Dance center with our representative and enjoy traditional dance performances. Stay at the cottage.

Day 05: Mahe - Wayanad (90 km / 3 hours)

Post breakfast you drive to Wayanad, a district in the northeast part of Kerala. On arrival take your hotel. After lunch, you visit the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, the largest abode of wildlife in Malabar which houses elephants, spotted deer, bison, tiger, cheetah, wild bear, etc.

Day 06: Wayanad

Wayanad has so many natural properties to explore. After breakfast, you visit the ancient caves of Wayanad known as Edakkal cave. Perched on the mountain of Ambukuthi, this cave attracts historians and archaeologists. The wall of the cave depicts some motifs of the animal figures, symbols, and objects used by human beings. It is said the carvings of the cave tell the story of a civilized pre-historic age. Can you imagine an uninhabited island still in Kerala? Kuruva Island is of its kind. If you have time, visit this island to explore its birdlife, orchids, and herbs. If you are an angling enthusiast, go fishing here. After dinner, stay overnight.

Day 07: Wayanad - Cheruthuruthy (165 km / 5-6 hours)

After breakfast, proceed towards Cheruthuruthy, a cultural hub of Kerala. It is a remarkable art and dance center in south India located in the Thrissur district of Kerala. Cheruthuruthy is a small village on the banks of the Nila River at a distance of 33 kilometers from Thrissur town. On arrival, you will be accommodated at a hotel. After lunch visit the Kerala Kalamandalam, a training institute in traditional art forms like Kathakali, Mohiniyattam, Thullal, Koothu, Drama and folk dances. This institute is now the Deemed University for Cultural and Social Emergence. Visit here the temple of Kozhimamparambu Bhagavathy, the Cheruthuruthy Mosque, and St. Thomas Church. After dinner, stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 08: Cheruthuruthy - Cochin(Kochi) (114 km / 2-3 hours)

Get up at your own time and have your breakfast. Then our representative will drive you towards Cochin known as Queen of the Arabian Sea. Check into a hotel. Afternoon you explore the Dutch Palace, St. Francis Church, and Jewish Synagogue. When you explore the Chinese Fishing Nets you will be surprised to see it. Visit the Cochin Harbour. Evening you laze at the Marine Drive, the most romantic hang-out of Kochi city located on the Bank of Arabian Sea facing the Arabian blue beauty. Stay overnight at Kochi city.

Day 09: Cochin - Flight Back Home

On the final day of the Kerala tour with heritage and culture, you board your flight back home at the Kochi International Airport. Our representative says goodbye to you.
